Deutsche Telekom Partners with Perplexity to Launch AI-Powered Smartphone

The AI Phone, featuring integrated generative AI tools, is set to debut in late 2025 with a price under $1,000.

Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile's parent company, has announced an AI-focused smartphone in collaboration with Perplexity, slated for release in the second half of 2025 and sales beginning in 2026.
The device will feature Perplexity's AI assistant integrated system-wide, enabling proactive tasks like booking reservations, sending messages, and managing emails directly from the phone's interface.
Additional AI tools from Google Cloud, ElevenLabs, and Picsart will be accessible through a dedicated 'Magenta AI' app, enhancing functionality in areas such as image generation, audio content creation, and vision-based analysis.
The Magenta AI assistant app will also be available for download on Android and iOS devices for Deutsche Telekom's 300 million customers, broadening access to its features.
With a reported price tag under $1,000, the AI Phone aims to compete in the European market, leveraging AI innovation to challenge established tech companies like Apple and Google.
