Deutsche Post Cyclists Set Off on 3,000-Kilometre Summer Ride to Deliver Christmas Letters to Santa in Lapland

The cyclists travel without electric assistance across Scandinavia to gather children’s Christmas wish letters for delivery in Rovaniemi in a fundraiser for families of severely ill children.

Overview

  • Simone Nehring, Artur Hajduk and Ralf Schüttler—veterans of a 2024 Spreewald-to-Venice cycling tour—began their two-week expedition at the Nikolaus post office in St. Nikolaus, Saarland.
  • They will cover roughly 3,000 kilometres on two yellow Deutsche Post bicycles and a mountain bike without electric assistance, supported by a follow-vehicle carrying clothing, tools and spare parts.
  • The route includes scheduled stops in Bremen and Hamburg to collect thousands of pre-collected children’s Christmas wish letters bound for Santa Claus Village.
  • After delivering the letters in Rovaniemi, the team plans to extend the journey another 700 kilometres to the North Cape.
  • The initiative also serves as a fundraising effort for Bunter Kreis Hagen, a charity supporting families of severely ill children.
