• Deutsche Bahn will integrate its website and DB Navigator with the OSDM technical interface starting autumn 2025 to unify fragmented international ticketing processes
• By end-2026 the rollout aims to allow direct purchase of tickets for all major neighbouring railways through DB channels, removing the need for separate booking portals
• The Open Sales and Distribution Model (OSDM) standard enables participating rail operators to exchange schedule and fare data for seamless single-step bookings
• Current cross-border journeys often require multiple tickets and leave travellers without full passenger rights during missed connections, issues the new system is designed to address
• The EU Commission plans to propose unified digital booking legislation later this year but may mandate a different technical standard than OSDM, risking delays to DB’s investment and rollout
