Overview
- The line will be fully closed from September 22 to December 1 for renewal works between Bad Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden.
- Bayerische Regiobahn will operate rail-replacement buses for all passenger services during the shutdown.
- DB will renew about 3,734 meters of track and 7,468 meters of rail and install around 3,000 twin sleepers to increase resistance to shifting on the Hallthurm gradient.
- Crews will lay roughly 5,000 tonnes of ballast and build 11 culverts, renew tracks at a Bundeswehr loading ramp, replace one switch in Bad Reichenhall and four in Berchtesgaden, and work on the overhead line between Hallthurm and Bischofswiesen.
- Most construction is scheduled from 07:00 to 20:00 with some night shifts on select days, and DB urges travelers to check bahn.de, the DB Navigator and BRB channels for current travel information.
