Overview
- Tree removal began Monday morning along Max-Brauer-Allee and Stresemannstraße to clear the route for the new bridge.
- Deutsche Bahn says 37 trees are being felled now, bringing the total to 86, with a pledge to plant 260 replacements including 45 on Max-Brauer-Allee.
- Police counted about 60 demonstrators from 7:30 a.m., while organizers reported just under 100, with local politician Heike Sudmann present.
- The bridge is being assembled on the Brammerfläche near Schulterblatt and is slated to be moved roughly 100 meters to the crossing and installed in summer 2026.
- The new span is planned at 108 meters long and 21 meters high for a corridor carrying more than 900 daily trains, as activists continue to oppose the design after their lawsuit was rejected in early November.
