Detroit’s 62-Foot Campus Martius Christmas Tree Arrives Ahead of Nov. 21 Lighting

The display is sponsored by the DTE Energy Foundation with a live broadcast on WDIV and WXYZ.

Overview

  • The Norway spruce traveled roughly 200 miles from Scott Locklear’s yard in Mesick to Campus Martius Park and has been installed.
  • Crews have begun a roughly 12-day decorating push with more than 10 workers on the tree to prepare it for the season.
  • The 22nd annual Detroit Tree Lighting is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 21, when Mayor Mike Duggan plans to flip the switch.
  • The tree was delivered by Amazon, whose community team coordinated the transport to downtown Detroit.
  • The celebration includes live performances and ice skating showcases and will air locally, including a 7–9 p.m. broadcast on WDIV and a 7 p.m. special on WXYZ.
