Detroit Traffic Stop Uncovers Hidden Glock and Ecstasy, Triggers Home Seizure of More Drugs and Guns

Prosecutors are reviewing the case after a warrant search at the driver's home expanded the seizures.

  • Michigan State Police stopped the motorist Saturday for running a stop sign and noted the vehicle had no insurance before learning the driver’s license was suspended.
  • A search of the vehicle uncovered a Glock .40-caliber handgun hidden behind the radio and more than 50 grams of ecstasy plus 19 oxycodone pills concealed in the window-switch area.
  • Investigators obtained a warrant for the driver’s residence, where they seized 28 grams of ecstasy, eight grams of methamphetamine, a revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun.
  • The driver was arrested and booked into the Detroit Detention Center, and authorities have not released the person’s identity.
  • Charges have not been filed as the case remains under review by prosecutors.
