Overview
- Michael Lovell-J Knox, 39, is charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, mutilation of a body, and two counts of felony firearm.
- The victim, 27-year-old Christian Epps, was reported missing on Oct. 30 and was found shot dead on Nov. 3 in a vacant lot on the 19300 block of Fleming Street.
- Authorities allege Knox fatally shot Epps with a shotgun during a physical altercation and then moved or disposed of the body.
- Detroit police arrested Knox on Nov. 17 after he barricaded himself in a Glenfield Avenue home and surrendered following a two-hour Special Response Team standoff.
- Knox was arraigned Nov. 21 in 36th District Court, Magistrate Delphia Burton denied bond, and hearings are set for Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.
