Morton has prior ties to the Lions, having served as a senior offensive assistant under head coach Dan Campbell in 2022.
He played a key role in developing rookie quarterback Bo Nix during the 2024 season, helping Nix lead Denver to its first playoff appearance since 2015.
Morton would replace Ben Johnson, who departed to become the Chicago Bears' head coach, leaving a significant gap in Detroit's highly productive offense.
