Destiny 2: Renegades Sets Dec. 2 Launch With Star Wars–Inspired Arsenal and Lawless Frontier

The studio says it aims to win back lapsed players after unpopular changes.

Overview

  • Bungie unveiled a ViDoc, launch trailer, and developer livestream confirming Renegades for December 2 following a collaboration with Lucasfilm Games to keep the story in Destiny canon.
  • The expansion introduces the Praxic Blade exotic kinetic sword with deflection, throws, and customization, plus a new Blaster archetype that uses heat-based firing instead of magazines.
  • Lawless Frontier adds repeatable jobs across Mars, Europa, and Venus with a Notoriety reputation track, three Syndicate factions, mission types like Smuggling, Bounty Hunts, and Sabotage, and an opt-in Invasion encounter.
  • The Equilibrium dungeon is scheduled for December 13 with a community race stream and a slate of new Exotics including Heirloom, Service of Luzaku, Deimosuffusion, Fortune’s Favor, and Praxic Vestment.
  • Game director Tyson Green acknowledged a shrinking audience and called The Edge of Fate changes the wrong path, while unconfirmed reports from community leakers suggest Destiny 3 is in very early development and separate AI art accusations remain disputed.
