Design Competition Launched for £46M Queen Elizabeth II Memorial

The memorial, planned for St James's Park in London, aims to honor the late monarch's legacy with a blend of reflection and celebration.

The UK Government has allocated a provisional budget of £23-46 million, excluding VAT, for the Queen Elizabeth II memorial project.
The memorial will be located in St James's Park near Buckingham Palace, featuring a statue and enhanced landscaping at Marlborough Gate.
A two-stage design competition has been opened to attract top architects, artists, and engineers, with the final design to be announced in 2026.
The project includes replacing the Blue Bridge, a key pedestrian crossing in the park, as part of the overall redevelopment plan.
The memorial will coincide with what would have been the late Queen's 100th birthday, following approval from the King and Prime Minister.
