Overview

• On June 1 at about 11:54 p.m., 28-year-old Giovanna Rodriguez-Fuentes’ Toyota Prius struck the rear of a slow-moving Volvo semitrailer on Algonquin Road near Leslie Lane.
• Her front-seat passenger and aunt, Nazly Rodriguez-Munoz, died early June 2 at a local hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.
• Rodriguez-Fuentes suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized before being charged with aggravated DUI on June 3.
• She was transferred to Cook County sheriff’s police custody on June 5 and is due to appear at the Skokie branch of the circuit court on June 11.
