Overview
- Emery County dispatch received a call just after 4 p.m. Saturday about a person trapped in a wash off Airport Road on Green River’s south side.
- Deputy Josh Opp requested reinforcements as responders assembled rope gear, the Green River Fire Department, and city public works support.
- Public works positioned a front-end loader as an anchor while Opp and local resident Kent Nelson paddled a raft to the stranded man and secured a life jacket.
- Crews on shore pulled the raft to safety, and the man—who is not from the area—was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
- The sheriff’s office praised Green River citizens as well as Utah Highway Patrol and Classic Air Medical, noting there are no ongoing rescue operations related to the incident.
