Overview
- The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began Sept. 22 just before 8 p.m. at a home on the 1800 block of Aspen Street in Newport.
- The girl’s mother called 911 reporting her fiancé assaulted her 11-year-old daughter and followed them while staying on the line with dispatch.
- Deputies found the man still holding the child at Cedar Street and Ashlyn Drive and ordered him to release her.
- After he allegedly refused, deputies deployed tasers, the child was freed, and she was treated at the scene for minor injuries then returned to her mother.
- The suspect was treated for minor injuries at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, lodged at the Monroe County Jail, and charged with domestic assault, unlawful imprisonment, and resisting and obstructing police, with his name withheld pending arraignment.
