Overview

  • Council President Amanda P. Sandoval said the team-building workshop will be rescheduled at a future time and place.
  • The retreat had been planned since December 2024, with a May 8 contract totaling about $26,000 from the council’s budget.
  • The contract itemized about $16,000 for facility, meals and rooms, $2,600 for ADA transportation, and $7,600 for a facilitator and assessment tool.
  • Ten of 13 members were set to attend Aug. 27–29 at Lone Rock near Bailey, though some members questioned the timing during a week of 171 layoffs.
  • Sandoval said the city tried to void or reschedule the agreement without success before postponing, following public scrutiny of the plan.
