Denver Mayor Michael Johnston claps about the success of the City’s plans for the Park Hill Golf Club as he speaks to a large gathering of Park Hill residents and supporters during a press conference at the Park Hill Golf Club in Denver on Jan. 15, 2025. The city has acquired the golf course through a land trade and plans to turn it into a park. It is the largest private land acquisition in the city’s history. It is also the largest addition to Denver Parks and Recreation since 1911. Johnston was joined by former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb, Denver City council member Shontel Lewis and other Park Hill Community members to announce the acquisition and the plans for the future of the Park Hill Golf Course.
