Dense Fog Triggers Deadly DelhiNCR Pileups as Buses Burn on DelhiAgra Expressway

Rescuers report four dead at Mathura with roughly 25 injured as operations wind down.

Overview

  • Police in Mathura said seven buses and three cars collided around 4:30 am near Milestone 127 on the Yamuna Expressway, the vehicles caught fire, four people died and about 25 were hospitalized, and traffic was diverted before clearance.
  • A separate chain collision on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway near Nuh involved roughly 18–20 vehicles, killing a CISF inspector and a Jaipur businessman, with the wreckage later removed and traffic restored.
  • According to NHAI, the Nuh crash sequence began when a passenger bus hit a dumper in near-zero visibility, and police also reported a guava-laden truck toppled nearby, scattering fruit and creating a slippery stretch.
  • Fog-related crashes were reported across corridors including the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, Faridabad where two men died after a car struck a parked container truck, and Sonipat where a woman assistant sub-inspector was killed.
  • Authorities have launched investigations into driver conduct and stopped vehicles, deployed fire and ambulance teams for rescue and clearance, and reiterated IMD fog alerts alongside severe air-quality readings from CPCB.
