Dense Fog Grips Delhi-NCR, Causing Three-Car Crash and Heavy Flight Disruptions

IMD has issued an orange alert for dense fog across the NCR.

Overview

  • A three-vehicle collision was reported near Bahalgarh on the Delhi–Sonipat road during low visibility on Tuesday morning.
  • Eyewitnesses described one car striking another, a vehicle leaving the scene, and a third car later hitting the damaged car that remained on the road.
  • One to two people were reported injured by eyewitnesses, with officials yet to provide identities or confirm the severity of injuries.
  • At Delhi’s IGI airport, PTI reported at least 118 flight cancellations, 16 diversions, and about 130 delays as DIAL warned that non–CAT III aircraft could be affected.
  • Air quality was in the very poor category with an AQI of 384 reported, and IMD expects morning fog to persist with a slight chance of very light rain on January 1.
