Dense Fog Advisory Expanded Across South Alabama Through Sunday Morning

NWS guidance warns of hazardous overnight travel with quarter‑mile visibility.

Overview

  • A 9:41 p.m. update from the National Weather Service extended the advisory to Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia, Covington, Baldwin and Mobile counties, effective 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.
  • An earlier 8:10 p.m. advisory covered Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva and Houston counties for 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday.
  • Forecasters expect widespread visibility of one quarter mile or less, making driving conditions hazardous overnight into the morning.
  • Motorists should slow down, use low‑beam headlights or fog lights if equipped, avoid high beams, and increase following distance.
  • If visibility falls near zero, turn on hazard lights and pull into a safe location, or stop well off the roadway with only flashers on and the parking brake set.
