Dense Fog Advisories Blanket Parts of Pennsylvania This Morning With Visibility Down to a Quarter-Mile

Overnight radiation fog under humid, calm conditions will lift through mid-morning per the National Weather Service.

  • The National Weather Service placed most of the Susquehanna Valley under a dense fog advisory from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., including Dauphin, Lancaster, York, Cumberland, Lebanon and adjacent counties.
  • Southwest Pennsylvania is under an advisory until 9 a.m., covering Allegheny, Westmoreland and Fayette counties as well as the higher ridges.
  • Southeast Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia and surrounding Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware counties, was placed under an advisory from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. for localized dense fog.
  • Forecasters report visibility of one quarter mile or less in spots, creating hazardous travel for the morning commute.
  • Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights and leave extra following distance as visibility gradually improves later this morning.
