Overview
- The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory at 9:14 p.m. Saturday for Escambia, Mobile and Baldwin counties in Alabama, in effect until 5 a.m. Sunday with visibility one quarter mile or less.
- Meteorologists say an Extreme Cold Warning may be needed if confidence increases in wind chills below 15 degrees along the immediate coastline, warning of frostbite and hypothermia risks.
- Earlier Saturday, a separate advisory covered the Orange County coast and San Diego County coastal areas until 10 a.m., with the NWS cautioning of hazardous driving on I-5 and I-405.
- Los Angeles County beaches and Central Coast zones were also under a Saturday morning dense fog advisory, including Malibu, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Ventura County and Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo areas.
- The I-5 Grapevine and nearby Sierra foothill routes were under a Friday-night advisory through 11 a.m. Saturday, affecting elevations from 1,000 to 2,500 feet and several mountain highways.
