Dennis Schröder Reveals He Rejected $84M Lakers Deal on Former Agents' Advice

After declining the Lakers' offer, Schröder signed contracts with the Celtics and Raptors, totaling less than half of the original deal.

Dennis Schröder, the Toronto Raptors point guard, rejected a four-year, $84 million deal from the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021, on advice from his former agents.
He subsequently signed with the Boston Celtics for a one-year deal worth $5.9 million, and later with the Lakers for $2.6 million.
Schröder then signed a two-year, $25.4 million contract with the Raptors before the 2023-24 season.
By the time his original Lakers deal would have ended, Schröder will have made about $34 million, not even half of the $84 million he was initially offered.
Schröder has since changed agents, and asserts that he would not have rejected the Lakers' offer had he not been advised to do so by his former representation.
