Overview
- Public broadcaster DR reported that at least three Americans with ties to President Donald Trump allegedly ran covert efforts in Greenland to weaken ties with Denmark.
- According to DR, one person compiled lists of Greenlanders supportive of or opposed to U.S. influence while others cultivated contacts with politicians, business figures and community leaders.
- Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen called any interference unacceptable and summoned chargé d’affaires Mark Stroh for a meeting in Copenhagen.
- Denmark’s security service PET said Greenland is a likely target for influence operations and noted it has strengthened its presence in cooperation with Greenlandic authorities.
- The State Department described the meeting as productive as a White House official privately urged Denmark to “calm down,” and DR said it could not determine whether the alleged actors acted independently or under direction.
