- Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen called in U.S. chargé d’affaires Mark Stroh after Danish public broadcaster DR reported covert influence operations in Greenland.
- DR said at least three Americans with connections to President Donald Trump sought to recruit Greenlanders to build a local independence movement that could later support U.S. annexation.
- The DR report drew on eight unnamed government, security and other sources, and it could not determine whether the individuals acted independently or under orders.
- Denmark’s security service PET said Greenland is targeted by campaigns designed to provoke divisions with Copenhagen or to reinforce certain viewpoints in the territory.
- There was no immediate public response from the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen or from Washington, as Denmark and Greenland reiterated that the island’s sovereignty is not up for negotiation.
