Denmark Starts Up 20 MW HySynergy Plant With First Green Hydrogen Exports to Germany

The project positions Denmark to build a hydrogen value chain connecting local industry to German buyers.

Overview

  • HySynergy is now operating at 20 MW in Fredericia, using eight wind- and solar-powered electrolysers to produce about eight tonnes of hydrogen per day.
  • Everfuel reported delivering Denmark’s first RFNBO‑certified green hydrogen export to Germany and has started supplying the adjacent Crossbridge Fredericia refinery.
  • Crossbridge’s chief executive said the refinery uses roughly 35 tonnes of hydrogen daily and has begun substituting green hydrogen for fossil-derived supply.
  • Everfuel owns 51% of the project, Hy24 is a co-owner, and funding includes €6.5 million from the Danish Energy Agency plus €3.8 million from the EU Connecting Europe Facility.
  • Everfuel targets expansion toward 350 MW at the site and more than 2 GW in Denmark by 2035, as the IEA highlights Europe’s limited operational capacity and high electricity costs.
