Overview

  • The draft amendment grants citizens explicit copyright of their body, voice and facial features to target unauthorized deepfake content.
  • It allows individuals to demand removal of realistic AI-generated portrayals from social platforms under threat of costly penalties.
  • Parody and satire are explicitly exempted to safeguard freedom of expression.
  • Around 90 percent of Danish Parliament members have endorsed the proposal before its public consultation phase ends ahead of the summer break.
  • If approved in an autumn vote, Denmark plans to use its EU Council presidency starting in July to advocate for similar rules across the European Union.
