Denmark International Rikke Sevecke Retires from Soccer Due to Heart Condition

The 27-year-old, who played for Everton and Portland Thorns, was forced to end her career prematurely after medical tests revealed the condition.

Rikke Sevecke, a Denmark international soccer player, has announced her retirement at the age of 27 due to a heart condition.
Sevecke made more than 50 appearances for Denmark and played for Everton in the Women's Super League before moving to Portland Thorns in September.
However, she did not make a single appearance for the American side due to her health condition.
Sevecke is not the first player to prematurely retire due to a heart condition. In December 2021, Argentina striker Sergio Aguero and Lucas Leiva also retired due to similar issues.
Sevecke expressed her sadness over not being able to continue her career and represent her country in future games.
