Denise Richards Testifies to Abuse as Cousin Corroborates in Restraining-Order Hearing

The judge is considering making her temporary restraining order permanent following fresh testimony.

Overview

  • Richards told a Los Angeles court that Aaron Phypers repeatedly threatened and assaulted her, saying through tears he had "almost killed me so many damn times."
  • Phypers’ cousin Kathleen McAllister testified virtually that she saw him hit Richards, leaving a black eye, and later choke and pin her against a concrete wall, and she said he threatened to kill them.
  • The hearing, set to run through Oct. 8, also addressed Phypers’ surrender of firearms after the July temporary restraining order was granted.
  • Phypers has denied all allegations in statements and court filings, accusing Richards of being the aggressor and saying he has not abused her.
  • Phypers named Charlie Sheen and Brandi Glanville as potential witnesses to attack Richards’ credibility, though family-law attorneys said such character testimony is likely to be excluded as irrelevant.
