Denise Richards' Restraining Order Hearing Features Cousin's Assault Claims and Video Evidence

The Los Angeles hearing continues through Oct. 8 on her request to make a temporary restraining order permanent.

Overview

  • On Oct. 7, the court played an August video message from Richards in which she said Phypers had hit her "too many times" and contrasted his behavior with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, and she grew emotional watching it.
  • On Oct. 6, Phyperscousin Kathleen McAllister testified she saw him strike Richards causing a black eye, choke and slam her against a wall, and threaten to kill both women, saying alcohol often fueled his aggression.
  • Richards testified that Phypers repeatedly threatened her life and described incidents in July, April and September, including being pushed on stairs and being struck soon after surgery.
  • A temporary restraining order issued in July remains in effect with a 100-yard stay-away, and the current proceeding seeks to convert it to a permanent order.
  • Phypers has denied all abuse allegations and has listed Charlie Sheen and Brandi Glanville as potential witnesses, with hearings scheduled to run through Oct. 8.
