Delta Sues CrowdStrike for $500M After Catastrophic IT Outage

The global technology failure in July led to thousands of flight cancellations and significant financial losses for Delta Air Lines.

Delta Air Lines has filed a lawsuit against cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, alleging gross negligence and breach of contract following a July IT outage.
The incident, described as the largest IT outage in history, affected over 8.5 million Windows computers globally, leading to the cancellation of 7,000 Delta flights.
Delta claims the outage resulted in over $500 million in losses, including $380 million in reduced revenue and $170 million in additional costs.
While CrowdStrike has apologized for the faulty update, it disputes Delta's claims, suggesting the airline's outdated IT infrastructure contributed to its slow recovery.
The U.S. Department of Transportation is investigating Delta's prolonged recovery and customer service issues during the outage.
