Overview

  • Delta launched its first “Route Race,” inviting SkyMiles members and Delta employees to select one new Mediterranean island destination for next summer.
  • The ballot lists Ibiza (Spain), Malta, and Sardinia via Olbia (Italy), with votes cast exclusively in the Fly Delta mobile app during the Aug. 25–29 window.
  • Delta says it will announce the winner roughly 30 days after voting ends and plans to begin nonstop service in summer 2026.
  • No U.S. airline currently operates regular nonstop service to any of the three islands, and Delta has not disclosed the U.S. origin city, aircraft type, or schedule.
  • Delta positions the campaign as giving customers a voice, while coverage notes the engagement benefits and highlights terms that allow the airline to modify or cancel the vote if integrity issues arise.
