Delta Orders 30 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, With Options for 30 More, Starting Deliveries in 2031

The deal marks Delta’s first direct Dreamliner order, positioning the 787-10 for long-haul growth starting in 2031.

Overview

  • Delta selected GE Aerospace GEnx engines for the 787-10s and signed a long-term services agreement with GE.
  • The aircraft are intended for transatlantic and South American routes and are advertised to deliver about 25% better per-seat fuel efficiency than the older widebodies they will replace.
  • Delta plans a premium-heavy interior featuring Delta One Suites, more Premium Select and Comfort seating, free Delta Sync Wi‑Fi, extensive entertainment, and upgraded food and beverage options.
  • The purchase raises Delta’s firm Boeing backlog to 130 jets and contributes to company totals of 232 narrowbody and 54 widebody aircraft on order.
  • The Dreamliners will support the phaseout of previous-generation widebodies, including aging 767s, with final assembly in North Charleston, South Carolina, and the announcement accompanied Delta’s strong 2025 financial results.
