Overview
- Delta disclosed Friday that it will add two nonstop routes from LAX: twice-daily service to Monterey beginning December 19, 2026, and daily A321neo service to Philadelphia starting June 7, 2027.
- The carrier will increase daily frequencies to Boston, Cincinnati, Houston, Raleigh, San Antonio, San Diego and Seattle as part of a plan to operate more than 200 daily departures to nearly 70 destinations at the peak of summer 2027.
- Delta has invested in ground infrastructure and premium facilities to support the growth, including the completed $2.3 billion Sky Way connection, two open Delta One Lounges, a planned 11,000-square-foot Sky Club for Terminal 2 in 2027, and a target of four lounges across Terminals 2 and 3 by 2028.
- Delta is marketing itself as Los Angeles’ “#1 airline” based on flights, seats and premium capacity for summer 2027, but rivals retain strengths at LAX—most notably United’s larger Pacific network and its announced Osaka service.
- For travelers the expansion means more schedule choice and premium seats on transcontinental and international connections, increased short-haul leisure options to places like Monterey, and the possibility of further transpacific growth from LAX.
