The Delta co-pilot arrested at San Francisco International Airport appeared to be a former San Ramon resident, records show.

Overview

  • About 10 officers from Homeland Security Investigations and federal air marshals executed the warrant moments after Delta Flight 2809 from Minneapolis landed at San Francisco International Airport.
  • Passengers and the remaining pilot were left stunned as agents stormed the cockpit, handcuffed the co-pilot and escorted him off the plane without explanation.
  • A senior federal source has linked the warrant to charges involving child sexual abuse materials, though neither Delta Air Lines nor the Department of Homeland Security has confirmed the allegation.
  • Homeland Security said it assisted the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing local investigation but declined to elaborate on the warrant’s specifics.
  • The co-pilot’s identity remains undisclosed and the investigation is continuing as crew and passengers await clarity on the abrupt enforcement action.
