Delphi Murders Suspect Richard Allen Faces Amended Charges, Original Defense Team Reinstated

The Indiana Supreme Court denies Allen's requests for an expedited trial and the removal of the presiding judge.

  • Richard Allen, the suspect in the 2017 murders of two teenage girls in Delphi, Indiana, is facing amended charges that include two new counts of murder and two counts of kidnapping.
  • The Indiana Supreme Court has reinstated Allen’s originally appointed public defenders, Andrew Baldwin and Brad Rozzi, who withdrew their representation last October following an alleged leak of crime scene photos from Baldwin’s law office.
  • The Supreme Court denied Allen's requests for the trial to happen within the next 70 days and for the removal of Judge Frances C. Gull.
  • The trial, originally scheduled to start in January 2024, may now take place in October 2024 or be moved to an earlier date.
  • Allen has pleaded not guilty to the original two murder charges following his arrest in October 2022.
