Overview
- Deliveroo and Irish startup Manna began the trial on June 4, operating from a local hub in the northern suburb of Blanchardstown.
- Customers within a 3km radius can receive meals from select restaurants in as little as three minutes via autonomous drones.
- Each drone carries up to 4kg of food and lowers orders on a biodegradable tether, backed by parachutes, backup systems and aerospace-grade motors.
- Manna has completed 170,000 delivery flights in the trial area under full Irish regulatory approval.
- Deliveroo aims to expand drone deliveries to more eateries and grocery items over the next six months, pending regulatory reforms in the UK and Ireland and support from parent company DoorDash.
