Delhi’s Yamuna Riverfront to Host Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides

Under Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena’s riverfront revival, a private agency will run four-hour tethered flights on a three-year revenue-sharing contract.

Overview

  • The DDA has allotted 3,600 sqm at each of the four sites—Yamuna Sports Complex, Commonwealth Games Sports Complex, Asita, and Baansera Bamboo Park—for balloon operations.
  • Flights will operate up to four hours daily at each location, with the option to extend hours based on demand and approvals.
  • All ticket revenue will flow directly into the DDA’s account under a transparent revenue-sharing model overseen by the agency.
  • The initial agreement runs for three years and may be extended by up to six additional years pending performance.
  • The rides are part of broader Yamuna rejuvenation efforts aimed at activating underused sports venues and newly developed riverbank green spaces.
