Overview
- Runway 10/28 at Indira Gandhi International Airport will be shut from June 15 to September 15 for extensive low-visibility upgrades.
- About 200 daily flights will be impacted, with 114 cancellations and 86 services moved to non-peak slots.
- The overhaul includes restoring the out-of-order instrument landing system and achieving CAT III-B compliance to halve fog recovery time from six to three hours.
- Slot adjustments were finalised with IndiGo, Air India, the DGCA, ATC and the Ministry of Civil Aviation to prevent the congestion seen during April’s aborted upgrade.
- The runway is set to reopen on September 15, while the ILS installation is slated for completion by November 27 ahead of the winter fog season.
