Delhi’s Air Locked in ‘Very Poor’ as Hotspots Hit ‘Severe’ Levels

Emergency curbs stay in force across NCR, with forecasts pointing to another week of Very Poor to Severe air.

Overview

  • Delhi’s citywide AQI held around 386–390 on Nov 14–15 after three days in the ‘severe’ band, CPCB data show.
  • Despite the city average, 16–17 of 39 stations registered ‘severe’ readings, with Wazirpur near 450 and Siri Fort reported close to 495.
  • Stage III of the GRAP remains in effect across DelhiNCR, and the Supreme Court has asked Punjab and Haryana to file reports on stubble‑burning controls.
  • IITM’s DSS estimated farm fires contributed about 8.5% on Friday and roughly 16.3% on Saturday, while transport remained the largest share near 18–20%; cooler temperatures and lighter winds limited dispersion.
  • Mumbai’s air worsened in pockets, with AQI.in showing a city reading near 226 and Wadala around 396, as the BMC formed ward‑level squads and stepped up enforcement at pollution hotspots.
