Overview

  • Traffic constable Vipin Kumar Singh was hit near the Vijay Nagar exit of the DelhiMeerut Expressway during peak traffic duty on Friday evening.
  • CCTV footage shows a white Ertiga striking him at high speed, flinging him into the air and dragging him about 30–40 metres before the car fled.
  • Police traced and seized the vehicle, arresting driver Vinit (alias Binne), a history-sheeter from Ghaziabad, along with another occupant.
  • The FIR was initially for attempted murder and was upgraded to murder after Singh died during treatment, with the accused produced in court as investigators compile evidence.
  • Officers said the car was traveling around 120 kmph and that the driver was allegedly intoxicated, while a later police note said the men were angry after an earlier run-in with Delhi police and feared being stopped.
