Delhi Weighs 60 MLA Proposals for Foot Overbridges Across the City

The submissions are now under technical study ahead of site inspections.

  • In a written reply during the Delhi Assembly’s winter session, the government confirmed receipt of 60 MLA-suggested sites for new foot overbridges to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
  • All proposals have been forwarded to the respective PWD chief engineers for detailed assessment and feasibility studies.
  • PWD officials said joint inspections with Delhi Traffic Police will follow, after which the department’s subway committee will decide on approvals before tenders are issued.
  • PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma initiated the exercise last year and leads a high-level traffic committee, while directing that major infrastructure works be executed at night to limit daytime congestion.
  • Proposed locations span busy corridors including Azadpur Mandi Gate No. 5, Gazipur Road near Crown Plaza, Andheria Mod, Chhatarpur Metro Station, TB Hospital Crossing, areas near Qutub Minar and JNU gates, Maujpur Chowk, GTB Enclave in Nand Nagri, Rohini Sector-24 and the Nand Nagri depot.
