Delhi Unveils Rs 15 Crore Three-Phase Mist Sprayer Rollout to Combat Dust Pollution

Officials say the court-mandated programme will be finished before winter pollution peaks to help suppress airborne particulates

Overview

  • Phase I is installing 511 misting poles with 15,330 nozzles along 10 major roads at an estimated cost of Rs 7.97 crore
  • Phase II will extend the system to 14 additional corridors with 530 poles and over 15,300 nozzles for Rs 7.31 crore
  • Phase III will target high-footfall public spaces including both circles of Connaught Place, Khan Market and Hanuman Mandir at Rs 3.79 crore
  • Misting units already operate on Lodhi Road and installations are under way on Shanti Path and Africa Avenue, spraying fine water mist every 20 seconds to settle dust
  • The initiative follows Supreme Court directives and is set to wrap up in the next three to four months ahead of Delhi’s winter pollution surge
