Delhi Unveils Plan for 5,000 AI-Powered Smart Classrooms in Government Schools

Backed by a Rs 900-crore allocation, this five-year initiative aligns government schools with NEP 2020 standards through a major technology overhaul.

  • The government has committed to modernizing every Delhi government school with AI-driven learning tools and upgraded computer and ICT labs over the next five years
  • The rollout includes 5,000 AI-enabled smart classrooms, 100 ICT labs, 450 language laboratories and nearly 19,000 smart boards under the Rs 900-crore plan
  • Inspired by Gujarat’s model of over 110,000 smart classrooms, Delhi aims to replicate digital learning successes in underserved areas such as Najafgarh and Kirari
  • Aligned with the National Curriculum Framework 2023, the programme also adds AI libraries, robotics labs, entrepreneurship education and foundational literacy initiatives
