Overview
- Rekha Gupta unveiled the tourism blueprint on August 15 to recast Delhi as a global hub for culture, heritage and spirituality.
- The scheme’s flagship component is a 12-kilometre Chhath Ghat along the Yamuna, designed to host large-scale religious gatherings during festivals.
- Plans also include a modern Yamuna cruise service and regular riverside Aarti ceremonies inspired by traditional river rituals.
- A heritage circuit will link Delhi’s forts, monuments, museums and cultural hubs into a unified route to encourage longer visitor stays.
- All projects will roll out in phases on the foundation of earlier Yamuna rejuvenation funding, with detailed budgets, approvals, inter-agency coordination yet to be secured.
