Overview
- The university issued a formal notification scheduling DUSU voting on September 18 and counting on September 19, with nominations for office-bearers due by 3 pm on September 10 and withdrawals allowed until noon on September 11.
- Professor Raj Kishore Sharma has been named chief election officer and Professor Rajesh Singh chief returning officer to oversee the 2026–27 polls under the authority of VC Yogesh Singh.
- Voting will be split by shift with day-class students voting from 8:30 am to 1 pm and evening-class students voting from 3 pm to 7:30 pm on September 18.
- Nomination papers must include a Rs 500 demand draft and affidavits and be placed in the sealed box at the chief election officer’s office in the North Campus Conference Centre, while Central Council nominations are filed through colleges and forms are on the DU website.
- The election will follow the DUSU Code, the DUSU Constitution and court-mandated Lyngdoh norms, and student groups are preparing campaign platforms drawn from recent Jantar Mantar mobilisations over the NTA, admissions and access to education.
