Overview

  • Delhi University launched its four-year undergraduate courses this academic year under NEP 2020 and UGCF 2022, offering one- to three-year exit points and expecting over 60% of students to pursue the research-focused fourth year.
  • The Executive Council approved Rs 65.71 crore for campuswide Wi-Fi upgrades and a fully digitised library with access to more than 200,000 e-books and journals.
  • Seventeen infrastructure projects totalling Rs 1,912.15 crore received the green light, including new academic buildings, women’s and working professionals’ hostels and a health centre.
  • Only regular faculty will teach fourth-year courses while guest lecturers are restricted to lower-level classes, with additional pay ensured for staff handling the expanded curriculum.
  • Faculty members raised objections after the Executive Council approved revisions to the postgraduate Political Science syllabus that removed papers on Pakistan, Islam and China before full Academic Council review.
