Delhi University Ratifies Sikh Martyrdom Elective and Radio Jockey Course as Online Credit Plan Awaits Review

Delhi University’s Academic Council has enacted fresh curriculum reforms, including new electives and supervision rules, pending a faculty review of online credit integration.

Overview

  • The Academic Council approved a four-credit undergraduate General Elective on 'Sikh Martyrdom in Indian History (c.1500–1765)' developed by the Centre for Independence and Partition Studies.
  • A new Skill Enhancement Course in Radio Jockeying was green-lit to train students in voice modulation, live-show hosting and studio operations.
  • Revised fourth-year UG guidelines allow all faculty members to supervise up to ten dissertations or projects per student, supported by an Advisory Committee for Research.
  • Students admitted in the 2016–17 session received a two-year extension to complete degrees under the shift from CBCS to the UGCF model.
  • Postgraduate Political Science papers on Pakistan, China, Islam and political violence were dropped and a proposal for up to 5% credits via MOOCs was sent to a review committee after faculty objections.
