Delhi to Roll Out Single Emergency Number 112 Under ERSS 2.0

The phased shift replaces a patchwork of helplines to speed coordinated emergency response.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced Delhi will consolidate police, fire, ambulance, disaster management and key utility helplines into 112.
  • ERSS 2.0 will receive calls, mobile-app alerts, panic-button triggers, SMS and web submissions at a single Public Safety Answering Point.
  • The system auto-detects caller location and dispatches the nearest police vehicle, ambulance or fire tender while alerting all relevant services simultaneously.
  • A real-time control-room dashboard will track incidents and response vehicles, with immediate alternative deployment if delays occur to improve accountability.
  • Rollout will proceed in phases starting with integration of existing numbers, followed by technical upgrades, call-taker training, public-awareness drives and mock drills, then evaluation.
