Overview
- Health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced that 34 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs will open by July 24 and a further 75 will follow by the end of August as part of Delhi’s phased rollout.
- Authorities have earmarked 429 Municipal Corporation sites for conversion into Arogya Mandirs, with 98 receiving No Objection Certificates and feasibility assessments under way at over 950 locations.
- Mandirs are designed to serve as neighbourhood health centres offering free primary care, diagnostic services and essential medicines to reduce pressure on hospitals.
- Health authorities have devised a comprehensive expansion roadmap that includes repurposing vacant market shops, community halls and polyclinics and creating new clinics at rural cluster development centres.
- In a high-level meeting, Singh directed PWD, MCD, DDA and NDMC officials to fast-track site conversions and warned that any delays in health infrastructure projects would not be tolerated.
