- A high-level meeting chaired by Education Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday decided to constitute a multidisciplinary committee to draft a comprehensive regulatory framework for coaching institutes in Delhi.
- The Director of Higher Education has been named the nodal officer who will lead the drafting process and coordinate consultations with civic bodies such as the MCD, Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police.
- Officials said the committee will write rules on fee transparency, infrastructure and building safety, fire and emergency preparedness, periodic inspections, grievance redressal, mental-health support and staff welfare.
- The government framed the action as a response to recent tragedies, including the Saket building collapse and the 2024 Old Rajendra Nagar flooding deaths, and said it will build on the Delhi High Court‑appointed Gauba Committee’s recommendations.
